Study of the chemical structure of dialdehyde carboxymethyl cellulose produced by periodate oxidation under different conditions
13C nuclear magnetic resonance, paramagnetic resonance, and ultraviolet spectroscopy and highresolution gel permeation chromatography were used to investigate the process of periodate oxidation of carboxymethyl cellulose and the structure and molecular weight characteristics of its oxidised forms produced under different conditions. It was shown that, in solution and in the solid state, aldehyd...
متن کاملQuantitative Determination of Dihydrostreptomycin by Periodate Oxidation.
Dihydrostreptomycin is produced commercially by the catalytic hydrogenation of streptomycin. The reaction involves the reduction of the aldehyde group in the streptose moiety of the streptomycin molecule to the corresponding primary carbinol group as evidenced by the failure of dihydrostreptomycin to react with carbonyl reagents or with alkali to produce maltol. As there are no chemical methods...
متن کاملOxidation of hydroxy-L-proline by periodate.
Some time ago Carter and Neville reported (1) that hydroxy-n-proline yields formaldehyde on oxidation with periodate. In another laboratory, this oxidation was found to produce a considerably lower yield of formaldehyde than we had obtained.’ A further study of this reaction was accordingly undertaken. Oxidation of several new samples of hydroxy-L-proline gave lower yields of formaldehyde than ...
متن کاملChemical Analysis through CL-Detection Assisted by Periodate Oxidation
The progress of the research work of the author and his colleagues on the field of CL-emission generated by pyrogallol oxidation and further application for the direct determination of periodate and indirect or direct determination of other compounds through flow-injection manifold/CL-detection set up is described. The instrumentation used for these studies was a simple flow-injection manifold ...
متن کاملPartial oxidation of light alkanes by periodate and chloride salts.
The efficient and selective partial oxidation of light alkanes using potassium periodate and potassium chloride is reported. Yields of methane functionalization in trifluoroacetic acid reach >40% with high selectivity for methyl trifluoroacetate. Periodate and chloride also functionalize ethane and propane in good yields (>20%).
